Week 2-Tonya Harding

When talking to my tutor, he asked for me to look up a ice skater called Tonya Harding, the reason for this was because he wanted me to see that not all skating is romantic and fairytale but also has a dark side. I'm still going to keep to my idea of have a romantic story but I found this ice skater quite interesting read. I looked on the Internet under Google and Wikipedia, to find out more from this ice skater: (Tonya Harding was born in November the 12th 1970 and is known as the former American figure skater and celebrity, it was said that she had a tough childhood and her family was unstable, but she came a elite skater, she won the u.s. figure skating championships twice and placed second in the 1991, she was best known for her triple axel in a short division. She soon became notorious for her part in the conspiracy to harm competitor Nancy Kerrigan at a practice session during 1994 u.s. figure skating championships.
The attack was carried out by her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and Shawn Eckhard, hired Shane Stant to attack Nancy. Tonya won that event while Nancy withdrawal because of her injury, later Tonya admitted her part in knowing about the attack and after loads of investigations, Tonya Harding received three years probation, 500 hours of community service and a $160,000 fine. She was then banned from the sport and was not allowed to be a coach for ice skaters. She now is a boxer.
